Inspiration: A few years ago I heard on the news that a bull kept looking at the torero during a bullfight in total innocence and non-violence. The torero broke down emotionally and collapsed on the ground in total surrender. He couldn’t nor wanted to fight anymore. This story shows the power of animals, if you give them the chance. They can be heart healers for us if we are open to it. That is why I painted this painting. The red refers to the ‘tradition’ of bullfighting. Instead of the ‘Toro Bravo’, the ‘brave bull breed’ I chose the Scottish highlander in all his peace and ‘being’. Like a bull is allowed to live.
