‘Young one’- lion cub

Original painting title: ‘Young one’- Lion cub, 18×13 cm, oil on panel. Price includes the frame.

Inspiration: In a wildpark abroad I was lucky enough to see two young lions in the restaurant. They were carried by their caretaker on their way to their bottle. An encounter like that is almost unthinkable, so close, and during my lunch! I couldn’t and wasn’t allowed to take photos, but later I made some sketches. On another occasion I visited them again, but then they were much older. So I had to use a combination of my sketches, also ideas from memory and general reference to capture this ‘cuteness’ in this painting.
