One of my recent pastels is this beautiful snow leopard. It’s thick fur I painted in many values and colours. As you can see, I don’t shy vivid colours like blue, purple and orange. All to suggest its grey coat, giving it extra warmth and coolness in areas which we also see in real life. The loose strokes add to it vividness. In this portrait I wished to capture its ‘royalness’, graciousness and silence. The bright yellow background inspired me to recreate this portrait again, but then large in oils with leaf-gold. Other paintings using ‘gold are peacock and stork.
Also, this artwork is published in my diary 2017 (sold out).
This snow leopard is for sale. More information and other available animal and wildlife paintings go to the AVAILABLE – page.
